Dani Glennie is a second-generation beekeeper from Langenburg, Saskatchewan. She’s following in the footsteps of her mother, who started with just a few hives on their family farm. Growing up watching their hive operation evolve and expand sparked Dani’s passion for beekeeping, and today she plays a vital role in the family business. Her expertise lies in raising the nucs and queens each year — the backbone of Glory Bee’s honey production. These carefully nurtured bees ensure strong, healthy hives every season by producing their own “stock” for the future.
What Dani loves most about her work is observing the rhythm of nature. Each season brings something new to admire — from the bloom of the prairie landscape to the animals that roam nearby. She thrives on the freedom of being outdoors rather than stuck at a desk, and says that being surrounded by the sights and sounds of the farm has been incredible for both her mental and physical health. “Every day is different,” Dani notes. “From the management of the hives to the employees, it’s never a dull moment. You’re constantly adapting and problem solving.”
Beyond the day-to-day work, Dani values the sense of purpose that comes with being part of a larger agricultural community. As a BeeMaid Honey co-op member, she feels a strong connection to her fellow beekeepers and knows that her contributions help support the co-op’s shared mission of producing high-quality Canadian honey. Being part of this team gives her a sense of belonging, and reinforces that her work is contributing to something greater than herself.
