Nestled in Alberta’s Tawatinaw Valley, their honey farm is rooted in over 50 years of dedication, passion, and perseverance.
Danielle grew up watching her parents, Paul and Julie, build a thriving beekeeping operation from the ground up. Through years of hard work, they expanded from a few colonies to 2,500, instilling in their daughter a deep respect for bees and the craft of honey production.
In 2003, Danielle and Todd made a life-changing decision, leaving their careers in Calgary to raise their young family in a farming community and learn the beekeeping trade. Working alongside her parents, they embraced the challenges and joys of the industry, and in 2017, they officially took the reins.
Today, with their three sons and a dedicated team, they manage 5,000 colonies, blending tradition with innovation. While preserving the core values her parents established, they’ve introduced sustainable practices like queen rearing and replacement stock to support bee health. Investments in technology and infrastructure have also enhanced food safety, traceability, and processing efficiency, ensuring the highest quality honey for Bee Maid Honey.
As proud members of the Alberta Honey Producers Co-operative, Danielle and Todd believe in the power of collaboration. Their partnership with Bee Maid Honey not only strengthens the industry but also supports fellow beekeepers across the prairies. With evolving markets and growing consumer trust in Canadian honey, they remain committed to ensuring a bright, sustainable future for beekeeping—one that keeps their family’s bond with bees alive for generations to come.
