Bee Maid Fiftieth Anniversary Scholarship 2010

The Bee Maid Fiftieth Anniversary Scholarship was created in 2004 to commemorate the formation of BeeMaid Honey Limited in 1954.  Bee Maid’s fifty years of service to its members is an outstanding achievement. The Scholarship will recognize and encourage children and grandchildren of our members and staff as they enter post-secondary study.  The Scholarships are designed to stimulate the pursuit of excellence by rewarding outstanding achievement.  The scholarships are also intended as a process by which young people can bring fresh ideas and attitudes to the Bee Maid family.

VALUE          

Two separate scholarships will be awarded, each valued at $500.

ELIGIBILITY

Applicants must be:
• A child or grandchild of a member of the affiliated producer coops: (Alberta Honey Producers Co-Operative Limited, Manitoba Cooperative Honey Producers Limited) OR the child or grandchild of an employee of an affiliated cooperative or BeeMaid Honey.
• Enrolled or applied for enrolment at an accredited post-secondary institution in Canada.

SELECTION PROCESS

Each recipient will be selected on the basis of:
• Academic achievement in the previous year.
• Evidence of community involvement.
• A 300 to 500-word essay related to one of the following topics: 

• What trends do you anticipate in consumer demand for honey and other food products in the future?  How do you think our industry should respond?

• What effects do sustainable agriculture; animal welfare and environmental protection have on consumer attitudes and consumer consumption patterns?
